I am Giuliana Retali. I started my musical career in my home country, on the island of Elba. Through my mother, a pianist, I was fascinated by the music at an early age and started playing the first pieces at the age of four and improvised on the grand piano at home. "My favorite toy was the poor piano." A few years later I successfully completed my harpsichord and piano diploma in Bologna and Lucca before moving to Switzerland to continue my studies. At the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis I devoted myself to early music, studied fortepiano and historical performance practice before taking part in conducting courses.
