Das Philharmonische Orchester Würzburg wandelt zur Eröffnung der Konzertsaison 21/22 auf den mythologischen Pfaden der Musik. Den Auftakt hierzu gibt die Ouvertüre zu Christoph Willibald Glucks „Orfeo ed Euridice“. Die 1762 uraufgeführte Oper fasst die Geschichte von Orpheus, der die Götter der Unterwelt mit seinem Gesang besänftigt, um seine geliebte Eurydike ins Leben zurückzuholen, in gleichermaßen packende wie berührende Musik.

Das Wechselspiel komplementärer Prinzipien wendet Ludwig van Beethoven in der Anlage seines vierten Klavierkonzerts an, indem er die etablierte Form des Solokonzerts um den Aspekt des Sinfonischen erweitert. Eine verführerische Begegnung zwischen Apoll, dem Gott der Musik, und den Musen der Poesie, der Hymnendichtung und des Tanzes wartet in Strawinskys Ballettsuite zu „Apollon musagète“ von 1927/28.

At the opening of the 21/22 concert season, the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra is walking the mythological paths of music. The prelude to this is the overture to Christoph Willibald Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice". The opera, which premiered in 1762, tells the story of Orpheus, who appeases the gods of the underworld with his singing in order to bring his beloved Eurydice back to life, in music that is as gripping as it is touching.

Ludwig van Beethoven uses the interplay of complementary principles in the structure of his fourth piano concerto by expanding the established form of the solo concerto to include the symphonic aspect. A seductive encounter between Apollo, the god of music, and the muses of poetry, hymns and dance awaits in Stravinsky's ballet suite to "Apollon musagète" from 1927/28.
