Charles Koechlin from Alsace actually wanted to be an astronomer. But things turned out differently and he became a composer. As a student of Jules Massenet and Gabriel Fauré, he is often associated with the late Romantic era, but the music of this color magician goes far beyond such a categorization. His passion for the stars is reflected in »Vers la voûte étoilée« (»By looking at the starry universe«) — a nocturne for orchestra.

Before Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's last symphony, which later bears the nickname "Jupiter Symphony", lifts the concerto into almost divine spheres, the master of the nocturnes has his say: Frédéric Chopin. In addition to all his masterpieces for solo piano, it is also the two piano concertos by the 20-year-old that have conquered the concert hall. The »1 Piano Concerto in E minor« is said to be the aftertaste of Chopin's first great love. The young pianist and »Opus Klassik« award winner Sophie Pacini can be heard at the piano.

Eigentlich wollte der Elsässer Charles Koechlin Astronom werden. Es kam aber anders und er wurde Komponist. Als Schüler von Jules Massenet und Gabriel Fauré wird er gerne der Spätromantik zugeordnet, die Musik dieses Farbmagiers weist aber weit über solch eine Kategorisierung hinaus. Seine Leidenschaft für die Sterne spiegelt sich in »Vers la voûte étoilée« (»Beim Anblick des Sternenuniversums«) wider — ein Nocturne für Orchester.

Bevor Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts letzte Sinfonie, die den später hinzugefügten Beinamen »Jupiter-Sinfonie« trägt, das Konzert in nahezu göttliche Sphären hebt, kommt der Meister der Nocturnes zu Wort: Frédéric Chopin. Neben all seinen Meisterwerken für Solo-Klavier sind es auch die beiden Klavierkonzerte des gerade 20-Jährigen, die den Konzertsaal erobert haben. Das »1. Klavierkonzert, e-Moll« ist angeblich der Nachklang Chopins erster großer Liebe. Am Flügel ist die junge Pianistin und »Opus Klassik«-Preisträgerin Sophie Pacini zu erleben.
