The premiere of "The Bat" took place on April 5, 1874 in Vienna's "Theater an der Wien" and since then has become an invariable part of the operetta repertoire. On November 21 of the same year, the play was staged in New York's "Bowery Theater", and two years later, on December 18, 1976 - also in the "Alahambra Theater" in London - in English and with a musical heavily adapted by Hamilton Clark text. The London premiere of "The Bat" in the original language was only in 1895 at the Royal Covent Garden Opera House.

Премиерата на „Прилепът“ се състои на 5 април 1874 година във Виенския „Театер ан-дер-Вин“ и оттогава се превръща в неизменна част от оперетния репертоар. На 21 ноември същата година творбата бива поставена в Ню Йоркския „Бауъри тиътър“, а две години по-късно, на 18 декември 1976-а – и в „Алахамбра тиътър“ в Лондон – на английски език и със силно адаптиран от Хамилтън Кларк музикален текст. Лондонската премиера на „Прилепът“ на оригинален език е едва през 1895 година в кралската опера „Ковънт Гардън“.
