With charisma, musicality and virtuosity, Avi Avital has won over a large fan base and given his instrument, the mandolin, a hitherto unknown popularity. When Avital and the multi-award-winning Lithuanian accordion player Martynas Levicki interpret solo concerts from the Baroque period, sounds can be expected that are enchanting precisely because of their unusualness. Ever since the Academy of St Martin in the Fields recorded the soundtrack for the Oscar-winning film »Amadeus«, the English instrumental ensemble's interpretations of Mozart have been familiar to an audience of millions. So at the end of this festival program there is also a symphony of the Viennese classic.
