tonality to the forefront. Its harmonies are an extremely important development in Romantic musical language. Wagner's use of chromatic harmony and tonal ambiguity in this work makes it a colorful and emotionally rich orchestral work. The centerpiece of the work is the touching love scene in the second act. It is a secret rendezvous under the cover of night, which accumulates to an exciting, almost frenzied climax. The opera's Prelude Liebestod, which hints at the doomed and tragic end of the whole story, appears both at the beginning and at the end of the work.

Brahms's Violin Concerto in D major was dedicated to his friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim. It is also the only violin concerto written by Brahms, who was a great pianist. Unlike the acoustically vociferous Wagner, Brahms followed Beethoven firmly, and this work, like the famous Beethoven Violin Concerto, uses the key of D major and pays homage to Beethoven in several ways. It is also considered by some violinists at that time as “too difficult to play”.
