Consistency is a good thing: our lives are full of reassuring repetitions that provide us with an anchor and help us remain oriented. Müpa Budapest too offers some sure footing for our lives with its New Year's concerts held on the first of January each year. But how many people have noticed that Haydn's masterpiece The Creation, which so many of us listen to on New Year's Day under the inspired baton of Ádám Fischer, also serves as a motivation for making our New Year's resolutions? And yet it does: The Creation is full of possibilities, and all of them can make our lives better.

Anyone who listens to this oratorio that converts the Genesis story into musical notes on New Year's can bet on it: in the coming year, they will seize every opportunity to create things of goodness, beauty and value. The Creation also encourages us to notice the inexhaustible diversity the world contains. Not to mention to have trust and hope, and to be playful. Interpreting Haydn's large-scale composition from 1797/98 this time around will be one Hungarian soloist joined by two others from abroad. Versatile in terms of styles, German soprano Mojca Erdmann feels particularly at home in the world of Viennese Classicism. The tenor, Gyula Rab, continued his studies in the United Kingdom after graduating from Budapest's Liszt Academy and now successfully interprets works by a wide variety of composers, ranging from Purcell to Mozart, Bach and Kodály. The German-British lyric baritone Benjamin Appl is fond of singing the masterpieces of the song repertoire, and no wonder, since he had the honour of being Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau's last student. He first dazzled the audience at Müpa Budapest a few years ago in the Rising Stars series, and most recently, we got to hear his ethereal take on Bach at the Liszt Academy as part of the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks. He is currently a member of Munich's Gärtnerplatz Theater. Ádám Fischer, the guiding spirit behind the Budapest Wagner Days festival, requires no introduction. The Hungarian National Choir concept owes its existence to the conductor, as does the Haydn Philharmonie, which in 2024 will paint the instrumental background behind the vocal parts in The Creation, as its predecessor, the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra, was founded by Fischer in 1987.

Jó dolog az állandóság, életünk tele van megnyugtató ismétlődésekkel, melyek fogódzót nyújtanak és segítenek tájékozódni. A Müpa is biztos pontot kínál a január elsején megrendezett Újévi hangversenyekkel. De vajon hányan vették észre, hogy A teremtés, Haydn remekműve, melyet újév napján oly sokan hallgatnak Fischer Ádám ihletett vezényletével, újévi fogadalmainkhoz is inspirációval szolgál? Pedig így van: A teremtés csupa lehetőség, és valamennyi az életünket teheti jobbá.

Aki újévkor meghallgatja a genezistörténetet hangokba öntő oratóriumot, megfogadhatja: a következő évben minden alkalmat megragad, hogy valami jót, szépet, értékeset hozzon létre. A teremtés arra is biztat, hogy vegyük észre a világ kimeríthetetlen változatosságát. No meg arra, hogy bízzunk és reméljünk, legyünk játékosak. Haydn 1797/98-ban alkotott nagyszabású kompozícióját ezúttal két külföldi és egy hazai szólista tolmácsolja. A német szoprán, Mojca Erdmann sokoldalúan tájékozódik a stílusok között, de különösen otthonos a bécsi klasszika világában. A tenor, Rab Gyula a budapesti Zeneakadémia után az Egyesült Királyságban folytatta tanulmányait, Purcelltől Mozartig, Bachtól Kodályig a legkülönfélébb szerzők műveit tolmácsolja sikerrel. A német-brit lírai bariton, Benjamin Appl előszeretettel szólaltatja meg a dalrepertoár remekeit, nem csoda, hiszen Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau utolsó tanítványa lehetett. A Müpában először néhány éve a Rising Stars-sorozatban kápráztatta el közönségét, legutóbb pedig a Bartók Tavasz Művészeti Hetek keretében hallhattuk éteri Bach-interpretációját a Zeneakadémián. Jelenleg a müncheni Gärtnerplatz Színház tagja. Fischer Ádámot, a Budapesti Wagner-napok spiritus rectorát nem kell bemutatni, a Nemzeti Énekkar fogalom, a zenekar pedig, amely 2024-ben A teremtés vokális szólamai mögé hangszeres hátteret fest, létét köszönheti a dirigensnek, hiszen elődjét, az Osztrák-Magyar Haydn Zenekart Fischer Ádám alapította 1987-ben.
