Haendel, La Résurrection: The Resurrection Händel

Premier acte d’une édition festivalière mettant en lumière les œuvres sacrées du passé, ce concert est entièrement dédié à l’oratorio La Résurrection, composé par le jeune Haendel lors de son voyage en Italie.

À la manière d’un opéra bel canto, « Il caro Sassone » – comme le surnommaient les Romains – mélange des récits sobrement accompagnés par la basse continue et de brillants airs, chargés d’exprimer l’ensemble des sentiments exercés par les mystères de la Passion du Christ.
Chef réputé pour ses goûts marqués en direction des instruments d’époque, Marc Minkowski propose une vision personnelle et fervente, à la tête de son orchestre des Musiciens du Louvre et d’une équipe internationale de chanteurs spécialistes de la musique baroque italienne.

The first act of this year’s festival dedicated to highlighting sacred works from the past, this concert is entirely devoted to the oratorio from La Resurrezione, composed by a young George Frideric Handel during his time in Italy.

In the style of a bel canto opera, “Il caro Sassone” – as the Romans used to call it – blends low-key through-composed narratives with brilliant melodies that express the gamut of emotions provoked by the mystery of the Passion of the Christ.

Marc Minkowski, a conductor known for his predilection for period instruments, brings a personal, fervent vision, at the head of his orchestra, Les Musiciens du Louvre and an international team of singers specialising in Italian Baroque Music.
