Bright vocal and orchestral colours will prevail at this concert featuring some of Handel’s most virtuosic arias interpreted by the renowned soprano Karina Gauvin. The Baroque melodies will be interspersed with works by two Montréal-based composers: a world premiere work by Dutch-Canadian composer Jaap Nico Hamburger as well as the Arabesque by Alexander Brott, the latter featuring OCM’s consummate principal cellist Chloé Dominguez. Additionally, the festive themes of Handel’s Water Music under the baton of Matthias Maute will transport audiences to a riparian paradise in this very first co-production between the OCM and the Ensemble Caprice.

This evening, the OCM pays tribute to the Honourable Monique Bégin, minister in the cabinet of Pierre Trudeau and one of the first women from Quebec to be elected to the federal Parliament.

Laissez-vous charmer par la vivacité des couleurs vocales et orchestrales des airs les plus virtuoses de Handel, interprétés par la célèbre soprano Karina Gauvin. Ces mélodies baroques seront entrecoupées d’œuvres de deux compositeurs montréalais : une œuvre en première mondiale du compositeur néerlando-canadien Jaap Nico Hamburger et l’Arabesque d’Alexander Brott, mettant en vedette Chloé Dominguez, violoncelliste principale accomplie de l’OCM.

De plus, les thèmes festifs du Water Music de Handel, sous la direction de Matthias Maute, transporteront le public vers un paradis riverain dans cette toute première coproduction de l’OCM et l’Ensemble Caprice.

Lors du concert, l’OCM rendra hommage à l’honorable  Monique Bégin, l’une des premières femmes du Québec élue au Parlement fédéral et aussi ministre dans le cabinet de Pierre Trudeau.
