The upcoming concerts of the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Alexander Humala - March 22 and 23 this year. – this is an opportunity to listen to the talented violinist Leticia Moreno in Alban Ber's rarely performed concert In Memory of an Angel. The artist "charming the audience and critics with her natural charisma, virtuosity and powerful interpretive power" will perform before the audience of the Krakow Philharmonic for the first time in her career, and together with the concert conductor, she will also be a guest of the "wszystko Gra" Music Discussion Club immediately before Saturday's concert.



The program of the announced concerts will open with Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor, called Unfinished - due to its unusual two-part form, which is the reason for a dispute among musicologists as to whether such a specific structure of the work is the composer's intention or merely a lack of inventiveness to write the remaining two movements - because it has been preserved sketch of a fragment of the third part. However, "in these two movements [Schubert] said everything that can be said in music about the depths and peaks of melancholy" (Alfred Einstein), and the work itself is considered the first truly romantic symphony.



The next piece - Violin Concerto in Memory of the Angel Alban Berg - is a work that requires deeper knowledge and discussion, which will be possible during the announced Music Discussion Club led by Agnieszka Malatyńska-Stankiewicz - on Saturday, March 23 this year. at. 4.30 p.m. in the Golden Hall. "In Memory of an Angel: Alban Berg reconciles romanticism with dodecaphony" - this is a topic that is intended to help the audience discover the essence of this piece, which, over the almost 80 years of history of the Krakow Philharmonic, has been performed by only three violinists - Wanda Wiłkomirska, Krzysztof Jakowicz and Piotr Pławner. 17 years after the last performance of the concert in Krakow, it will be performed thanks to a Spanish-born artist with Peruvian roots, Leticia Moreno - a violinist who, in her career, has already had the opportunity to perform with the world's leading orchestras under the direction of the most distinguished conductors, such as Zubin Mehta, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Jarvi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Christoph Eschenbach, Yuri Temirkanov, Krzysztof Penderecki, Gustavo Gimeno and Andrey Boreyko.

Berg wrote a violin concerto titled In Memory of an Angel in 1935 and dedicated it to eighteen-year-old Manon, who died the same year of polio - the daughter of Alma Mahler and the architect Walter Gropius, whose funeral became an event in the social life of interwar Vienna. The two-part form of the concert combines two musical worlds - tonality and dodecaphony - the flagship compositional technique of the Second Viennese School, of which Berg was one of the most outstanding representatives. At the same time, the work itself - as the last completed work of the composer who died in December 1935 - became a kind of his artistic confession and testament.



The concerts will culminate with Arthur Honegger's Third Liturgical Symphony - a work written in response to the cruelty of World War II and expressing - especially in the finale Dona nobis pacem - the desire for peace.

Najbliższe koncerty Orkiestry Filharmonii Krakowskiej pod dyrekcją Alexandra Humali – 22 i 23 marca br. – to okazja to wysłuchania utalentowanej skrzypaczki Leticii Moreno w rzadko wykonywanym koncercie Albana Bera Pamięci anioła. Artystka „urzekająca publiczność i krytyków swoją naturalną charyzmą, wirtuozerią i potężną siłą interpretacyjną" wystąpi przed publicznością Filharmonii Krakowskiej po raz pierwszy w swojej karierze, a wraz z dyrygentem koncertów będzie również gościem Dyskusyjnego Klubu Muzycznego „Wszystko Gra” bezpośrednio przed sobotnim koncertem.



Program zapowiadanych koncertów otworzy VIII Symfonia h-moll Franza Schuberta zwana Niedokończoną – ze względu na nietypową dwuczęściową formę, która stanowi przyczynę sporu muzykologów, czy tak specyficzna budowa dzieła jest zamysłem kompozytorskim, czy też jedynie brakiem inwencji do napisania dwóch pozostałych części – zachował się bowiem szkic fragmentu części trzeciej. Jednak „w tych dwóch częściach [Schubert] powiedział wszystko, co da się muzyką powiedzieć o otchłaniach i szczytach melancholii” (Alfred Einstein), zaś samo dzieło uznane jest za pierwszą prawdziwie romantyczną symfonię.



Utwór kolejny – Koncert skrzypcowy Pamięci anioła Albana Berga – to z kolei dzieło, które wymaga głębszego poznania i omówienia, co będzie możliwe podczas anonsowanego Dyskusyjnego Klubu Muzycznego prowadzonego przez Agnieszkę Malatyńską-Stankiewicz – w sobotę, 23 marca br. o godz. 16.30 w Sali Złotej. „Pamięci anioła: Alban Berg godzi romantyzm z dodekafonią” – to temat, który ma pomóc publiczności dociec istoty tego utworu, którego wykonania na przestrzeni niemal 80 lat historii Filharmonii Krakowskiej podjęło się jedynie troje skrzypków – Wanda Wiłkomirska, Krzysztof Jakowicz i Piotr Pławner. Po 17 latach od ostatniego krakowskiego wykonania koncertu zabrzmi on za sprawą urodzonej w Hiszpanii artystki o peruwiańskich korzeniach, Leticii Moreno – skrzypaczki, która w swojej karierze miała już okazję występować z czołowymi orkiestrami świata pod dyrekcją najznamienitszych dyrygentów, takich jak Zubin Mehta, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Jarvi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Christoph Eschenbach, Yuri Temirkanov, Krzysztof Penderecki, Gustavo Gimeno czy Andrey Boreyko.

Berg napisał opatrzony tytułem Pamięci anioła koncert skrzypcowy w 1935 roku i zadedykował go zmarłej w tym samym roku z powodu polio osiemnastoletniej Manon – córce Almy Mahler i architekta Waltera Gropiusa, której pogrzeb stał się wydarzeniem w życiu towarzyskim międzywojennego Wiednia. Dwuczęściowa forma koncertu łączy dwa muzyczne światy – tonalność i dodekafonię – sztandarową technikę kompozytorską drugiej szkoły wiedeńskiej, której Berg był jednym z najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli. Jednocześnie sam utwór – jako ostatnie ukończone dzieło zmarłego w grudniu 1935 roku kompozytora – stał się rodzajem jego artystycznego wyznania i testamentu.
