Accademia de’ Dissonanti nous offre un programme autour de la musique de Jean Baur, compositeur et harpiste français du XVIIIe siècle. L’ensemble en a fait le premier enregistrement de ce compositeur fascinant et pratiquement inconnu. Avec des passages joyeux et imaginatifs et des mélodies vivement expressives, la musique est très virtuose et explore des approches au violoncelle qui étaient tout à fait nouvelles pour l’époque. Nous aurons le plaisir d’entendre également la harpe à pédales (un nouvel instrument qui a connu une popularité fulgurante au milieu du XVIIIe siècle), jouée ici sur l’un des seuls instruments originaux en Amérique du Nord et qui donne à ce concert une couleur irrésistible!

Accademia de’ Dissonanti presents a program featuring the music of the 18th-century French composer and harpist Jean Baur. This ensemble made the first-ever recording of this fascinating and virtually unknown composer. Filled with joyful and imaginative passages, along with lively, expressive melodies, the music demonstrates a high level of virtuosity, exploring cello techniques that were entirely new for the time. You will also have the pleasure of hearing the pedal harp (a new instrument that exploded in popularity in the mid-18th century), performed here on one of the few original instruments in North America, adding irresistible colour to this concert!
