Obviously, the music of the great Italian Romantic composer, Giuseppe Verdi, has little need of anniversary years; its ability to touch the heartstrings with its instinctive musicality and expressiveness has earned it a permanent place in the forefront of the concert scene.
The Athens State Orchestra is staging a concertante performance of Verdi’s celebrated opera, Nabucco, to mark the bi-centenary of the composer’s birth. Verdi’s third opera, and for many his first masterpiece, premiered at La Scala in 1842, winning its composer international fame and recognition.
The celebrated conductor George Petrou leads a group of distinguished Greek opera singers in a performance which conveys the unparalleled magic of Verdi’s music with a rare immediacy. Verdi tells a stirring tale of love, war and religious conflict set against a familiar biblical backdrop with superb arias, stirring choruses and rich orchestral tones

Η μουσική του μεγάλου Ιταλού συνθέτη του Ρομαντισμού Τζουζέπε Βέρντι ασφαλώς δεν έχει ανάγκη από επετείους για να ανέρχεται στο μουσικό προσκήνιο. Σε αυτό βρίσκεται διαχρονικά και επάξια, αφού κατορθώνει πάντα με την πηγαία μελωδικότητα και εκφραστικότητά της να αγγίζει τις πιο ευαίσθητες χορδές της ανθρώπινης ψυχής.
Η Κρατική Ορχήστρα Αθηνών, με αφορμή την συμπλήρωση φέτος διακοσίων ετών από την γέννηση του Βέρντι, παρουσιάζει σε συναυλιακή μορφή την διάσημη όπερά του, Ναμπούκο (Ναβουχοδονόσωρ). Η τρίτη κατά σειράν όπερά του και κατά πολλούς το πρώτο του αναμφισβήτητο αριστούργημα, με την πρεμιέρα του στη Σκάλα του Μιλάνου το 1842 εξασφάλισε στον συνθέτη διεθνή καταξίωση και αναγνώριση.
Ο γνωστός αρχιμουσικός Γιώργος Πέτρου ηγείται μίας ομάδας διακεκριμένων Ελλήνων λυρικών καλλιτεχνών που φέρνουν κοντά στο κοινό με αμεσότητα την απαράμιλλη μαγεία της μουσικής του Βέρντι. Με εξαίσιες άριες, συγκλονιστικά χορωδιακά και πλούσια ορχηστρικά ηχοχρώματα ο Βέρντι αφηγείται μία συναρπαστική ιστορία έρωτα, πολέμου και θρησκευτικών συγκρούσεων με φόντο γνωστές βιβλικές αναφορές.
