Das Opernhaus Zürich präsentiert als Gastspiel-­Premiere Vincenzo Bellinis Oper Norma in der hochgelobten Produktion, welche erstmals an den Salzburger Pfingst-Festspielen 2013 zu sehen war. Cecilia Bartoli singt in dieser Produktion die Titelpartie, und es war der gemeinsame Wunsch von Cecilia Bartoli und dem Opernhaus Zürich, die internationale Gastspiel-Tournee, auf die diese Norma gehen wird, in Zürich an ihrem Stamm­haus zu starten. Giovanni Antonini steht am Pult unseres Orchestra La Scintilla, das auch schon bei der Salzburger Premiere spielte. Patrice Caurier und Moshe Leiser haben Regie geführt. Norma, die gallische Druidenpriesterin, liebt den Römer Pollione und damit einen Feind ihres Volkes. Im Geheimen hat sie sogar zwei Kinder mit ihm. Doch Pollione findet in der jüngeren Adalgisa eine neue Geliebte. Getrieben von Wut und Rachelust, erwägt Norma das Äusserste, nämlich ihre Kinder zu töten – bis sie schliesslich eine entscheidende Wandlung durchmacht. Das Regieteam Leiser/Caurier verlegte die Ge­schich­te in die Zeit der Résistance gegen die Nazi-­Besatzung im Frankreich des Zweiten Welt­kriegs: Norma ist hier eine leidenschaftliche Par­ti­sanin, die aus Liebe zwischen die Fronten gerät. Im vergangenen Jahr wurde die CD zu dieser Pro­duktion mit einem ECHO-Klassik-Preis für die «Beste Operneinspielung des Jahres» ausgezeichnet. Die Produktion selbst erhielt einen Opera Award für die «Beste Neuproduktion des Jahres 2013».

As a guest performance, the Zurich Opera House presents Vincenzo Bellini's opera Norma in the highly acclaimed production, which was first seen at the 2013 Salzburg Whitsun Festival. Cecilia Bartoli sings the title role in this production, and it was the joint wish of Cecilia Bartoli and the Zurich Opera House, the international guest performance tour, to which this Normagoing to start in Zurich at their parent company. Giovanni Antonini conducts our Orchestra La Scintilla, which also played at the Salzburg premiere. Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser directed. Norma, the Gallic Druid priestess, loves the Roman Pollione and thus an enemy of her people. Secretly, she even has two children with him. But Pollione finds a new lover in the younger Adalgisa. Driven by anger and lust for revenge, Norma considers the ultimate thing, which is to kill her children - until she finally undergoes a decisive change. The director team Leiser/Caurier moved the story to the time of the resistance against the Nazi occupation in France during World War II: Norma is a passionate partisan who gets caught between the fronts out of love. Last year, the CD for this production was awarded an ECHO Klassik prize for the "Best Opera Recording of the Year". The production itself received an Opera Award for “Best New Production of 2013”.
