Offenbach’s comic opera Orpheus in the Underworld weaves a tale of chaos and hilarity as Pluto, the ruler of the Underworld, grapples with a bureaucratic nightmare after the accidental arrival of a living mortal. Filled with catchy tunes, witty dialogue, and lively characters, this operetta is a spirited and comedic journey through the Underworld and a delightful exploration of the absurdities of life.

In a production by stage director Katherine M. Carter, the opera will be performed by Bard Conservatory of Music’s Vocal Arts Program singers with the Bard Conservatory Orchestra, conducted by James Bagwell.
