Clarinetist Claudia Mendel and soprano Katja Woitsch, accompanied by pianist Bernhard Kuffer, have a varied program with works ranging from romantic to modern. Franz Schubert's "The Shepherd on the Rock" and selected songs as well as the fantasy pieces for clarinet and piano by Robert Schumann provide insights into the art of song in the 19th century. Gustav Mahler's "Heavenly Life" and Olivier Messiaen's iridescent "Abîme des oiseaux" are examples of the rich tonal language of the 20th century.
