l’histoire
Un Argentin, deux Américains et un Tchèque sont à l’affiche de ce concert de l’Orchestre national de Cannes qui s’ouvre sur une œuvre du compositeur américain Charles Griffes. Mort en 1920, à 35 ans, cet ancien élève de Scriabine est un musicien impressionniste dont le Poème pour flûte et orchestre, d’inspiration rhapsodique, est une des pièces les plus connues. Écrite à l’origine pour le flûtiste français Georges Barrère en 1918, elle sera interprétée ici par Victoria Bianchini, ancienne élève du conservatoire d’Antibes.

Professeur d’accordéon au conservatoire d’Antibes, l’accordéoniste Franka Herwig sera accompagnée par l’Orchestre de Cannes dans Aconcagua du nom du plus haut sommet d’Amérique du Sud et sommet de la musique d’Astor Piazzolla. Composé en 1979, ce concerto du maître argentin revisite de manière savante sinon classique la milonga, le tango traditionnel de Buenos Aires.

Après l’entracte, ce sera au tour des élèves de l’Académie de l’Orchestre national de Cannes d’entrer en jeu dans un programme au goût de l’Amérique. Avec tout d’abord des extraits des Symphonic Dances<.i> de West Side Story, la comédie musicale mythique du compositeur et chef d’orchestre américain Leonard Bernstein, avant d’aborder la Symphonie n°9 en mi mineur, « du Nouveau Monde », chef-d’œuvre d’Antonín Dvorák.

An Argentinian, two Americans and a Czech are featured in this concert by the Orchester National de Cannes, which opens with a work by American composer Charles Griffes. Died in 1920, at the age of 35, this former pupil of Scriabin is an impressionist musician whose Poem for flute and orchestra , of rhapsodic inspiration, is one of the most famous pieces. Originally written for the French flautist Georges Barrère in 1918, it will be performed here by Victoria Bianchini, a former student of the Antibes Conservatory.

Accordion teacher at the Antibes Conservatory, accordionist Franka Herwig will be accompanied by the Orchester de Cannes in Aconcaguanamed after the highest peak in South America and peak of music by Astor Piazzolla. Composed in 1979, this concerto by the Argentinian master revisits in a scholarly if not classic way the milonga, the traditional tango of Buenos Aires.

After the intermission, it will be the turn of the students of the Academy of the National Orchestra of Cannes to come into play in a program with the taste of America. First with excerpts from Symphonic Dances<.i> from West Side Story , the mythical musical comedy by American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, before tackling Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "from the New World” , Antonin Dvorák's masterpiece.
