Koncert Wrocław Baroque Ensemble pod dyrekcją Andrzeja Kosendiaka przybliży słuchaczom twórczość Kaspara Förstera młodszego. Przed tym artystą epoki baroku świat stał otworem, a on ochoczo korzystał z możliwości podróżowania, co wpłynęło także na język muzyczny jego utworów.

Förster przyszedł na świat w Gdańsku w rodzinie muzycznej. Jego ojcem, a także pierwszym nauczycielem, był Kaspar Förster starszy. Później artysta kształcił się w Rzymie. Działał też na dworze Medyceuszy we Florencji, a kilka lat później trafił do Warszawy, gdzie kontynuował edukację u Marca Scacchiego. Był tam też śpiewakiem i dyrygentem chóru. Dysponował podobno głosem o wielkiej rozpiętości. Inny wybitny kompozytor tamtych czasów, Adam Jarzębski, poświęcił mu nawet krótki wiersz w swoim Opisaniu Warszawy:

„Masz tam z FORSZTERA altystę,
W bas i tenor, dyszkatystę;
Gdy chce, wzgórę wyprawuje,
Potym nadół wyśpiewuje
Kilka oktaw, to nowina!”

Później przez kilka lat Förster pracował na dworze króla Fryderyka III w Kopehnadze. Dzięki znajomościom i przedsiębiorczości zdołał doprowadzić tamtejszą kapelę do rozkwitu. Kompozytor prowadził życie pełne przygód. Najął się on do weneckiej armii i w 1657 roku brał udział w bitwach z Turcją, a za waleczność otrzymał tytuł Cavaliere di San Marco. Odwiedzał Hamburg i Drezno, przez cały czas ucząc się i przyswajając style muzyczne napotykane w czasie tych podróży. Förster był prawdziwym obywatelem świata, co przełożyło się na bogactwo i zróżnicowanie jego dorobku. Uznaje się, że jest odpowiedzialny za przeniesienie melodyjnego i efektownego stylu włoskiego na północ, w tym także na ziemie polskie.

Oprócz utworów gdańskiego artysty w programie koncertu znalazło się także dzieło Giacomo Carrisimiego zatytułowane Jephte. Ten włoski kompozytor uważany był za jednego z najwybitniejszych mistrzów swoich czasów. Jego twórczość stanowiła wielkie źródło inspiracji dla Förstera, który rozwinął pewne elementy w niej obecne. Koncert ten będzie więc nie tylko podróżą do dźwiękowego świata epoki baroku, ale także po muzycznej Europie tamtych czasów.

The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble concert conducted by Andrzej Kosendiak will introduce the listeners to the works of Kaspar Förster the Younger. The world was open to this Baroque artist, and he eagerly took advantage of the opportunity to travel, which also influenced the musical language of his works.

Förster was born in Gdańsk in a musical family. His father, and also his first teacher, was Kaspar Förster the elder. Later, the artist was educated in Rome. He was also active at the Medici court in Florence, and a few years later he went to Warsaw, where he continued his education with Marc Scacchi. He was also a singer and choirmaster there. He was said to have a voice of great range. Another outstanding composer of the time, Adam Jarzębski, even dedicated a short poem to him in his Describing Warsaw :

“You have an alto player from FORSZTER, a
bass and tenor player, a treble player;
When he wants, he goes up,
Then he sings down
A few octaves, that's news!

Later, for several years, Förster worked at the court of King Frederick III in Copenhagen. Thanks to his connections and entrepreneurship, he managed to lead the local band to flourish. The composer led a life full of adventures. He joined the Venetian army and in 1657 he took part in the battles with Turkey, and for his bravery he received the title of Cavaliere di San Marco. He visited Hamburg and Dresden, all the while learning and assimilating the musical styles encountered during these travels. Förster was a true citizen of the world, which translated into the richness and diversity of his output. It is believed that he is responsible for transferring the melodic and effective Italian style to the north, including the Polish lands.

In addition to the works of the Gdańsk artist, the program of the concert also included a work by Giacomo Carrisimi entitled Jephte . This Italian composer was considered one of the greatest masters of his time. His work was a great source of inspiration for Förster, who developed certain elements present in it. This concert will be not only a journey to the sound world of the Baroque era, but also to the musical Europe of those times.
