Pour sa 60e édi­tion, MA Festival renoue avec une vieille tra­di­tion et clô­ture dix jours de musique anci­enne avec les Vespro del­la Beata Vergine de Claudio Monteverdi. Sous la direc­tion de Lambert Colson, l’ensem­ble belge InAlto inter­prète le mon­u­ment musi­cal de Monteverdi sur une copie d’un véri­ta­ble orgue ital­ien. L’ensemble suit ain­si les con­seils de Monteverdi sur l’in­stru­men­ta­tion idéale telle qu’il l’avait envis­agée. Cela donne à l’in­ter­pré­ta­tion une nou­velle vie tout en l’en­raci­nant encore plus pro­fondé­ment dans la pra­tique his­torique de l’interprétation.

MA Festival pulls out an old tra­di­tion for its 60th edi­tion and clos­es ten days of ear­ly music with Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespro del­la Beata Vergine. Led by Lambert Colson, the Belgian ensem­ble InAlto per­forms Monteverdi’s musi­cal mon­u­ment on a copy of a real Italian organ. The ensem­ble thus fol­lows Monteverdi’s advice on the ide­al instru­men­ta­tion as he envis­aged it. This gives the per­for­mance a fresh new life while at the same time mak­ing it even more deeply root­ed in his­tor­i­cal per­for­mance practice.
