We are once again celebrating the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year with musical fireworks: in December and January we will be showing our successful production of Rossini's Le Comte Ory . Once again, Cecilia Bartoli can be seen as Comtesse Adèle in one of her signature roles. Lawrence Brownlee, one of the most successful bel canto tenors of the younger generation, recently joined her in the title role. He most recently caused a sensation as Arturo in Bellini's I puritani at the Zurich Opera House.

Count Ory is a wily trickster who loves to seduce women. When the husbands of a French village have to go to war, Ory seizes his chance to approach the female population, who, however, have taken a vow of chastity. Countess Adèle is particularly principled. But that's exactly why it is also an extremely desirable target for Ory. In order to get access to her castle, he has to come up with something: he disguises himself as a nun...

Das ausklingende alte und beginnende neue Jahr feiern wir einmal mehr mit einem musikalischen Feuerwerk: Im Dezember und Januar zeigen wir unsere Erfolgsproduktion von Rossinis Le Comte Ory. Wiederum ist Cecilia Bartoli als Comtesse Adèle in einer ihrer Paraderollen zu erleben. Neu an ihrer Seite steht mit Lawrence Brownlee in der Titelpartie einer der erfolgreichsten Belcanto-Tenöre der jüngeren Generation, der zuletzt als Arturo in Bellinis I puritani am Zürcher Opernhaus Furore machte.

Graf Ory ist ein ausgefuchster Schwindler, der es liebt, Frauen zu verführen. Als die Ehemänner eines französischen Dorfes in den Krieg ziehen müssen, nutzt Ory seine Chance, um sich an die weibliche Bevölkerung heranzumachen, die allerdings ein Keuschheitsgelübde abgelegt hat. Besonders prinzipientreu ist die Gräfin Adèle. Aber genau deswegen ist sie auch ein äusserst begehrtes Ziel für Ory. Um Zutritt in ihr Schloss zu bekommen, muss er sich etwas einfallen lassen: Er verkleidet sich als Nonne…
