November 25 - new issue of SOUND UP voices, dedicated to modern vocal music. The main character of the concert will be the icon of the New York avant-garde scene, Meredith Monk, who celebrates her 80th birthday this month.

A pioneer of interdisciplinary approaches, Monk's work fuses music, dance, theater and film into a monolithic whole. The basis of her work was the exploration of the possibilities of the human voice, which, according to Meredith, extend far beyond the boundaries of language and conventional singing. By experimenting with advanced techniques, Monk created her own sound universe, in which the archaic and modern seamlessly merged.

At SOUND UP voices, iconic works for Monk's voice will be performed by the high-class chamber choir INTRADA under the direction of conductor Ekaterina Antonenko.

The monographic concert will take place in the large reading room of the Russian State Library, whose historical interiors have become one of the recognizable symbols of the Soviet style. Visitors to SOUND UP voices will have a rare opportunity to hear music in this monumental space.

25 ноября — новый выпуск SOUND UP voices, посвященный современной вокальной музыке. Главной героиней концерта станет икона нью-йоркской авангардной сцены Мередит Монк, отмечающая в этом месяце 80-летний юбилей.

Пионерка междисциплинарного подхода, в своих работах Монк переплавляет музыку, танец, театр и кино в монолитное целое. Основой ее творчества стало исследование возможностей человеческого голоса, которые, по убеждению Мередит, простираются далеко за границы языка и привычного пения. Экспериментируя с расширенными техниками, Монк сотворила собственную звуковую вселенную, в которой органично слились архаика и современность.

На SOUND UP voices прозвучат знаковые произведения для голоса Монк в исполнении высококлассного камерного хора INTRADA под управлением дирижёра Екатерины Антоненко.

Монографический концерт состоится в большом читальном зале Российской государственной библиотеки, чьи исторические интерьеры стали одним из узнаваемых символов советского стиля. У посетителей SOUND UP voices появится редкая возможность услышать музыку в этом монументальном пространстве.
