Orchestration de Jean Françaix sur un texte de Jean de Brunhoff

Été 1940, Poulenc séjourne chez des cousins à Brive-la-Gaillarde. Les enfants de la maison le prient de jouer la musique des Aventures de Babar, le héros créé par Cécile de Brunhoff et mis en album par son époux Jean de Brunhoff. Poulenc improvise alors sur les aventures du petit éléphant, forcé de fuir les chasseurs dans la forêt avant d’arriver en ville où il devra vivre comme un homme. Inspirée par les 11 enfants qui l’entouraient au moment de sa composition, la partition de Poulenc « L’Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant » est au cœur de ce joli spectacle enrichi par l’énergie du comédien et maître conteur Damien Robert, ainsi que celle d’un interprète en Langue des Signes Française.
