Dirigieren sei für sie die natürlichste Art, Musik zu kommunizieren, sagt die Dirigentin Erina Yashima. Und diese Art kommt denkbar gut an, bei Orchestern, beim Publikum, bei der Kritik. Einen »neuen Stern am Dirigentenhimmel« nannte sie das Hamburger Abendblatt. Zum ersten Mal geht der jetzt auch in Frankfurt auf. Die deutsch-japanische Dirigentin, Erste Kapellmeisterin an der Komischen Oper in Berlin, ist sinfonisch in der osteuropäischen und russischen Spätromantik zuhause. Genauer: Sie habe gerade ihre Dvořák-Phase, ein Komponist, der ihr sehr am Herzen liegt, wie Erina Yashima sagt. Die Frau mit der tänzerischen Agilität am Pult stellt sie hier mit der im dunklen Klang schwelgenden »Winterträume«-Sinfonie von Peter Tschaikowsky vor und präsentiert zudem ein Werk des syrisch-amerikanischen Komponisten Kareem Roustom sowie Camille Saint-Saëns' 1. Cellokonzert. Solist ist Bryan Cheng, auch er ein Debütant beim hr-Sinfonieorchester. Der in Kanada geborene und in Berlin lebende Cellist hat jüngst ausgesprochen erfolgreich bei einigen der renommiertesten internationalen Wettbewerbe der Welt teilgenommen mit seinem sofort ansprechenden, hellen und dennoch warmen Ton, dem ihm das Stradivari-Violoncello »Dubois« aus dem Jahr 1699 zur Verfügung stellt.

Conducting is the most natural way for her to communicate music, says conductor Erina Yashima. And this way is extremely well received by orchestras, audiences and critics. The Hamburger Abendblatt called her a »new star in the conducting firmament«. Now, for the first time, it is also rising in Frankfurt. The German-Japanese conductor, First Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper in Berlin, is symphonically at home in Eastern European and Russian late Romanticism. More precisely: she is currently in her Dvořák phase, a composer who is very close to her heart, as Erina Yashima says.
