Sala Cecília Meireles is a theater in the Lapa district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, known for its exceptional chamber music performances and renowned acoustics. It stands as one of the city's top venues and boasts a traditional design. The 670-seat theater is named in honor of the Brazilian author and amateur pianist Cecília Meireles.

**History**
The building, originally the Grande Hotel da Lapa, was constructed in the late 19th century and hosted prominent landowners and politicians during the First Brazilian Republic.

In 1948, the building underwent a transformation, becoming the Cine Colonial, a cinema. Two decades later, in 1965, during the celebrations of Rio de Janeiro's fourth centenary, the cinema was converted into the Sala Cecília Meireles, dedicated to classical music, particularly chamber music.

Renovation efforts, including acoustic enhancements, were spearheaded by Rio Governor Marcello Alencar and were completed in 2014. The renovation also added a new 150-person auditorium called the Auditório Guiomar Novaes and a reception space known as the Espaço Ayres de Andrade.

Since 2004, the theater has been under the direction of composer João Guilherme Ripper.
